Watch the replay: Decoding Russian intelligence: what medals and insignia reveal

On April 23rd, Hervé Letoqueux presented findings from two recent investigations merging OSINT and phaleristics.

What can old military decorations found on the Internet reveal about the most opaque Russian intelligence infrastructures? In a webinar hosted by EU DisinfoLab, Hervé Letoqueux, CheckFirst’s CEO, answered that question by presenting the results of two recent investigations: ‘Unveiling FSB’s 16th Center SIGINT Capabilities’ and ‘Unveiling GRU’s Information Operations Troops’. Both of these studies featured research into Russian cyber units by combining phaleristics (i.e. the academic study of medals and military decorations) and OSINT.

In this webinar, Hervé showcased the findings and methodology of both of the studies. He also explained how OSINT research can be conducted in creative ways to improve our understanding of Kremlin-linked disinformation providers and counter them more effectively.
