Leading OSINT research inevitably prompts investigators to question themselves on how doing it ethically. As cofounders of ObSINT, we constantly question the ethics of OSINT gathering, algorithmic transparency, content takedowns and the unintended consequences of fact-checking while doing research.
This question was at the heart of a webinar hosted by EU DisinfoLab on May 19th, featuring Georgios Terzis (professor at Brussels School of Governance), EUDL researcher Maria Giovanna Sessa, and our COO, Nelly Pailleux. She presented how ObSINT guidelines help us to conduct investigations without compromising transparency and accountability.
