Webinar: An analysis of recommendation algorithms on YouTube against disinformation
On 9 June, Check First presented the findings of its first investigation in the CrossOver Project to the EDMO BELUX community.
“Are Youtube algorithms addicted to state-controlled media?” is the question we asked and tried to answer for the sake of the CrossOver project. Indeed, since the ban of Russia Today and Sputnik in the EU, the CrossOver project has been observing that CGTN Français, a Chinese State-run media, replaced the Russian fed content on Youtube in Belgium, when looking up the word “Russia”. Check First and EU Disinfolab analysed the rise of another state-controlled media after the ban of Russia Today France.
Check First presented the findings, the conclusions and the methodology during a webinar for EDMO Belux at the beginning of June 2022, available in English and in French.
