ODIL

ODIL, the platform of Francophones initiatives tackling disinformation, brings together anti-disinformation initiatives in the Francophone space in order to give them greater visibility on a global scale and to understand their specificities.

The first step of the creation of the platform was to list all disinformation initiatives in the 88 countries of the Francophonie and discuss their processes, challenges, to see how mutual cooperation could be created. ODIL gathers different types of initiatives:

• fact-checking newsrooms
• tools labelling misinformation
• research projects related to fake-news, mis- and disinformation
• media and information literacy initiatives

That led to the creation of a report and establishment of recommendations for the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie .

Then, ODIL expanded and welcomed new features. The second version of the website hosts, in addition to the catalogue of initiates:

• an index of public policies countering disinformation in the Francophonie
• a series of podcasted interviews highlighting the work, the diversity and the quality of initiatives tackling disinformation in the Francophonie
• a weekly newsletter in which ODIL relays the French-speaking news on the fight against disinformation (articles, events, conferences, studies) …
• a secure and encrypted messaging app dedicated to users who signed in to be registered. This way they can exchange and communicate in dedicated chats.
