We’re delighted to announce that we’re among the 16 new top-quality projects that have been approved in the EMIFund’s 2nd round of calls. This approval not only validates our mission but also propels us to introduce the CrossOver project to Finland.
As the proud coordinator of this initiative, CheckFirst aims to build on the success of our previous iterations. Our goal? To establish a robust monitoring network within the homes of volunteer participants. This network will serve as a beacon, providing live insights into algorithmic content suggestions on several social media platforms (psst: we plan on monitoring Tiktok!). It’s a window into understanding the mechanics of disinformation and grasping its potential influence on the Finnish population, especially in the context of Presidential and EU elections.
Our project would be incomplete without the right partners. That’s why we’re teaming up with Faktabaari, the leading Media and Information Literacy organization in Finland. Together, we believe that our synergies will unveil attempts to disturb the information ecosystem during a political momentum.
As the Digital Services Act takes the center stage, CrossOver Finland is poised to challenge and encourage platforms to uphold a greater level of accountability. This is especially pertinent when it comes to the content they serve their users, more so during crucial election periods.
This development fosters our beliefs in collaboration, transparency an search for accountability on platforms. We remain committed to driving impactful changes in the digital landscape and ensuring that the truth shines brighter than ever.
Stay tuned for more updates on our discoveries with CrossOver Finland!
